My story idea prominently features two NHL teams. Not the players, really - it's more about two diehard fans, but the teams themselves are the crux of their conflict. Do I need special license to use their names, or are they open minded about such things?

The answer is pretty much the same for anything: a hotel, a car brand, a drink, anything. Unless you are planning to write a murder mystery in which the coach of one of the team turns out to be a vicious serial killer, there is no problem.

No one can stop you from naming something by its proper name.
