Behind you... with a big stick.
Okay, I need to crank out a multi-page synopsis. I have a one page version but some of the places I want to sub to request multi-pages. Here's the problem. I have read that multi-pages should be double spaced then I read somewhere else that they should be single spaced.

So which is it??? Single or double. I like my long hair, please don't make me pull it out over this.

I'm afraid I don't have the answer but I just thought I'd drop a note to wish you all the best. :Hug2: I haven't seen you around for a while. Maybe I've been hanging around in the wrong places. :D

Just double space that one-pager and make it a multi. As long as it's good, I don't think anyone will care if it's two pages instead of three.

Keep the hair.

Generally, 1 or possibly 2 pages will be single-spaced, but anything over that is double-spaced.

If you Google "fiction synopsis" click on the first three listings and read each. Go on to entries 5-8 if you need more.

These people from the publishing world are revealing what's not so secret about form and content. Like mining gold.

This from editor Erin Cartwright:
What we look for in a synopsis is a well told story. We just want a brief outline that explains what the book is about - which gives away the ending. We want the complete outline because we need to know if the author has a good, thought out, comprehensible story. In other words we want to know if the author can tell a story well. We ask for the first three chapters (the first three - in that order 1, 2, 3) so we can see if the author can write. A synopsis is important because it's the first thing an editor reads - if it's a great story, then you're halfway there.

BTW, nobody is going to reject you solely based on how you space your synopsis. The writing of the synopsis is FAR more important.

And if they do (hypothetically speaking), you don't want to be doing business with them, anyway.
