Hey all,

I found this website on another writing forum and it's pretty awesome so I wanted to share the wealth:

Check out www.duotrope.com

It's got a great search engine for lit mags and other markets, very up to date, but the coolest part is probably the online submission tracker, which I've started to use. It keeps track of how long you've waited for a response and lets you know if you've waited more than the average waiting time, so you know when to follow up or forget about it. I'm digging it so far.

Duotrope is one of the premier market sites. Their sub tracker hasn't always worked well - a few people lost all their data on it some time ago.

If it's fixed, that's terrific news!

It's been working great since they got it straightened out. But I do keep a back up spread sheet at home.

Consider me a duotrope addict. :)

Tracking

I just use pen and paper for tracking. I've seen far too many writer lose everything with electronic tracking. Not a big deal, I guess, if you have only a couple of things out at once, but I sometimes have thirty to forty pieces out at once, and an extensive backlog I must keep track of.

I list my stories out by date on a Word table, and keep a paper record of all stories sent, to where, and when rejected -- far more rarely, when accepted. I'd love to change that ratio! And I'm working on it. :)
