Last I heard, Kristen was just as a guest star for several eps, not a permanent character.
I could be wrong, though. That's been known to happen from time to time.

I read an interview with her, and she's signed for 13 (?) episodes of the season. So it's not bad, either way.

That was a series I just could not get into. And I felt bad because it was recommended to me by someone whose opinion I respect.
Wooden acting, clichéd characters and torturous plot. Nah, give me Firefly any day.
People can always change my mind with a convincing enough argument though, so I'd be interested to hear why people like it so much.

I never saw wooden acting or cliched characters, but you know what's funny? The first few episodes didn't hook me. I watched two or three, and then forgot to watch for a few weeks. For me, I don't forget a Must See TV Show. I'll rememeber to watch or record it. I missed a couple of eps. And then I remembered to watch again, somewhere around episode seven or eight.
I don't know what it was, but at that point, the series hooked me. I think it was a little slow getting started, but that can happen in such an expansive series. The characters were spread across the country. They had different storylines and no immediate connections. When their lives began to intersect, the storytelling improved immensely. Characters began to meet up. Storylines crossed and mingled and merged. Once that happened, I was in love.
I'm a huge fan of ensemble shows, so this one was right up my alley. But I like my ensemble to interact. Heroes has a terrific cast and once each actor found their stride with their character, the entire thing gelled. The writers took chances by killing off main characters. They weren't afraid to have good guys make bad decisions. I love the shades of gray that came with the final few episodes--the "villians" truly believed they were doing the right thing. And who knows? Maybe they were.

Hmm, possibly why I never got into it, I think I stopped watching after about episode 5 or 6. Perhaps I'll give it another try. Thanks.

Love Hiro." I can't remember if it was just my friends speculating on what changed or if it was what actually happened (or was rumored happened), but I remember someone saying that someone in charge saw the response to the first ep & got a new set of writers to take over. <shrugs> But maybe it's just the curse of the large ensemble cast. You can have a slow beginning that introduces all the characters, or you can have an exciting bar fight at the beginning & give the ship a big intro (oh, wait... did I just cross shows there...?

Oh 100% agreement on the Hiro-love, he was cool. As for that other series, I'm not American, so the first ep I watched was the pilot.

Think I made it to episode 6, as well. It didn't feel as if the writers knew where they were going and it just ended up silly. And I really could have done without the character names and locations coming up every time we saw them. Not having the attention span of a goldfish, I was able to remember the names of people I'd been watching for a month.

Then Homecoming came. What a great episode. #9. Things started coming together, people started meeting, etc..
They took a while setting things up and I do notice they seem to have 'set up' episodes, followed by amazing ones that were worth the wait the following week. And then you realize that silly little things really were important.
Love the series. Nothing will ever be able to top Joss Wheden's stuff for me, but I'm hopelessly addicted at this point

I'm a comic book junkie and I was really bored and disappointed with the early episodes. Sadly, I have yet to become 'hooked' on the series. I guess I've always expected more from the show. More interaction between the 'good guys', more villainous characters to hate, less cliched and stereotypical abilities and characters. I hope they take on a few new writers to jazz it up and make it, well, better. >.<

Wow, this is kind of like talking about the band Rush. Some people can't stand them and others live their lives around them. But that's what we do, right?
Me, I loved the show. Having grown up on comics I was expecting cheesy characters and stilted writing but I didn't find that, IMHO. I found deep complexities in the characters, enjoyed how they weren't running off to change into costumes then put their glasses back on to save their secret identities, and that most of them were about as flawed as most normal folks.
My bright spots were Hiro, of course, and how he and Ando started off speaking in their native tongue. Must have been the Russian thriller I was watching shortly before the first episode where all the cast spoke with British accents. Then there was Matt, the cop trying to do well by his family. I totally dug Greg's telepathic turmoil, and decking his partner when he overheard his thoughts.
There was much to enjoy about the show and I'm amped for season two!

You seem like a nice person, I like you, I like seeing you around. But I'm not a Hero fanatic (wish I was) and I can't stand Rush. Yeah, I'm Canadian and I'd puncture my eardrums before I listened to one of their songs in its entirety. But I hope we can still be friends. ^_^

Yea, although the last episode of season 1 was that really made me wince. The fact that that it ended with a cliffhanger annoyed me, and the battle scene wasn't so great compared to other episodes. Still, it's very creative, and I'm glad it has the success that it did.

I LOVE Heroes, I'm in the UK so only on like episode 6 of the first season, but totally hooked. The hubs and I are big Jeph Loeb fans, the show is awesome, I'm pbsessed. I know a few peple who weren't hooked by the beginning but we were.

The finale was pretty anti-climatic. Which was too bad, 'cuz by the time we got there, I was so excited about it. In fact, I told my friends that I hadn't been that excited about a show's season finale since Buffy was on (& that's really saying something), so having it fail to live up to expectations on that level was really disappointing.
Speaking of Buffy & Heroes in one post, I have an MC named "DL," & was trying to figure out a name for someone he works with, having decided that character needed a name starting with an "F." First thing I thought of was Forrest. Realized that DL from Heroes & Forrest from Buffy were played by the same guy & threw that name out of the running.

You see, that's what I'm talkin' about! Aren't opinions and feelings lovely? We can all agree to disagree and walk away smiling. And yes, we can still be friends. I grew out of my fanaticism years ago. Still love the band but don't take it personal if someone else doesn't feel that way. That's the joy of age and wisdom, though it took me a long time to aquire it.
And as much as I dig the show, I did feel let down by the end. I hoped for a bigger battle, like Nicky tossing street signs, and when Hiro went after Sylar I thought for sure he'd grab the sword and melt it. Forgive me for tossing out an after thought but a line came to me at that moment. I could hear Hiro whine and say, "But this is my destiny." to which Sylar replies, "Everyone has a destiny; who says yours is more important then mine." Then he hurled him off.
I know that any kinks we saw in the first season will be ironed out. They've got one year of trying to stand out from the crowd and can now dig more comfortably to the core story lines and characters. I expect more bangs per episode.
