Yup.

The Eyes of Mara is almost ready for a September release. More info to follow here and on the Mara website.

Question.

What are the best ways to market a self published book?
Websites, publications, conventions, means of low cost advertising, review sites?

any and all info will be most appreciated.

for me, cons have led to every other kind of publicity i've gotten. they're pretty expensive to do, especially if you have to travel, but if you can present yourself well in person, people will remember you & want to do things for you. people like, reporters, & people putting together anthologies. you really can't network like that on the web.

so far i only have floppies out, but when i make a graphic novel, i will definitely go after review sites/blogs (especially review sites of people i've met at cons). all it costs is a book and postage, & if it's a good review on a popular blog, you'll get some orders, or be contacted by other people who can help you. & then you can put the review up on your comic's website.

paid advertising seems to be the least effective promotional strategy, for an indie. to be fair, i've only tried it myself once (my sister bought me a banner ad on something*positive) but its results were zilch. not even a bump in my website traffic.
