I have noticed alot of posts lately worrying about their story not being right or is this too much or not enough.

Don't worry about the details and write the story, once your done then you can break it down and do the repair work. It will be easier with the story out of your head for you to work on the details.

Sorry rant over with for now.

A similar rant was posted about sex and violence in books earlier today.

Seems to be the general consensus.

As such I'm all for dubbing today as "write the d@#m book day". Anyone else?

That's exactly what I do. I 'try' to write the first draft as quickly as possible...just to get the darn story out. Then I go back and start working with each scene/page/chapter to make sure it works.

Well...at least, I hope it works.

Oh. Right.

I'll get back to writing now...

Hers is the N I was trying to spell without spelling. Plus I was too busy writing, but I can always fix it later.

Actually, danm is a little-known swear word used by homicidal albino monks to express frustration and a desire to render limb from limb.

It's true.

This sounds very DanBrownish...this whole homicidal albino monk thing. Let's not bring him up, shall we.

My thoughts are, this is a writer's forum. If writers can't ask / moan / think out loud / seek other opinions about those types of things here then where can they?

to answer your question seriously john, I don't think people aren't allowed to do all those things, but I along with the OP are witnessing a surprising number of people asking for permission to write a certain topic or a certain way, asking if writing about a purple horse for example is a huge no no without even trying. I worry that too often people hold themselves back or procrastinate from the act of doing by the act of asking. Certainly there is no such thing as a bad question, but the act of merely asking questions however can go a bit sour. I really think people mask their insecurities and seek out validation by doing this, instead of taking a risk. There is this huge fear of failure, of making a mistake, I see in these questions, when, as I and others have stated many times before, making a mistake is just about the best thing that could happen.
