I am writing an article and need anecdotal quotes from real parents who have been through this experience with their adopted children. Topic: Easing your newly adopted child (up to preschool age) into the family. Can you help me with any of the following questions?

1. How did you introduce/celebrate your child to/with extended family?
2. How did you help your child prepare for the onslaught of curious strangers?
3. How did you gently handle friends and family who seemed to be pushing too hard and not giving you and your child enough space?

I will need to include your name, city and state in the article. If you can help me out please email me at [email protected]
Thanks so much. Article deadline is Aug 22.

Have you read "Two Little Girls: A Memoir of Adoption" by Theresa Reid? Here's a link: http://www.amazon.com/dp/0425215059/?tag=absolutewritedm-20
She and her husband adopted two girls from the former Soviet Union. They adopted them separately, a couple of years apart, so the second one had to be integrated into not only the extended family, but the existing family with the first adopted girl. It's a fantastic book, really an insightful commentary and an entertaining read. Maybe you could get some anecdotes, or at least some great ideas for your article, from reading it.

ideagirl,
Thank you so much! I will check out this book. It would be awesome if I could interview the authors...I'll have to check in to that, too! :)
