You're mistaking this list for a PW review. This is just the listing they put out twice yearly of all the publishers' new releases. You should be psyched you're on the list--booksellers and librarians (and, for that matter, other publishers) often keep these as a kind of general index of the books coming out for each season. PW routinely runs out of space in this issue and often cuts titles out altogether, and sometimes leaves out entire publishers' lists. So you should be thrilled your title is listed! Also, this Announcement Issue has no bearing on whether or not you'll get a review in PW.

Oh, and as for the mucking up the description: PW asks the publisher for a very short description and usually cuts that short description down even further. You really should probably blame your publisher if you don't like how it came out.

Thanks for that. It probably doesn't matter much that you are last, badducky. I'm sure booksellers and librarians probably read the list very carefully!

Like the others have said, at least you are on the list! Don't worry, a couple more weeks and there will be a proper review and everything! Don't let something silly like this spoil the amazingness of having a book (and a very pretty book at that!)

You're last because the list is published alphabetically by publisher. Wizards of the Coast is the last publisher listed because it begins with "W." it has absolutely nothing to do with your book, badducky.

It doesn't matter whether it has anything to do with my book or not. I am in the "signs and portents" phase of the writing career before reviews and blurbs happen, when any little thing can throw me into a funk.

At least the final cover is done, at last... Oh, um. I should, like, mention that over in Announcements.

Eh. Maybe I will when I get a review.

Until then, I'm going to google myself and count to the thirteenth google, and then I will expect - on that portentious number - something to be magically different.

but . . . but . . . being on the list is a GOOD thing!! Not everyone gets on such a list, not every publisher sends out the info. Babe, hon, really . . . this one thing, I hate to break it to you, is a good thing. That black cat crossing your path at the moment, that isn't unfortunately.

He's only black because he's been sleeping in the chimney again.

Everything will be bad until the reviews are good!

(And... Thanks for all you folks' love and support. Except the love. Seriously, stop touching me there.)

I want my book on a most wanted list! That's exactly what I want!

The Feds are breaking into factories, SWAT teams bustling into the bookstores and roughing up employees and customers and everybody has to get DOWN DOWN DOWN because the guys with M16s in stormtrooper boots are stomping through looking for the most wanted thing that must be taken away, put on trial, and locked away forever...

Then, the law activists fight for the release of the inanimate object that could be killed any moment in that shower, or shivved to death to be used to hide a shiv.

The news stories, the helicopters (because only important things merit helicopters), the people in suits talking about important things as if the book isn't in the room...

I want my book to be wanted. I want it on the FBI Most Wanted List.

(Not me, of course. Prison and I wouldn't get on well. My book, though? She's tough enough to take it and make it.)

Well, I suppose a woman goes in search of her grandmother and finds a wolf in her bed instead was already taken...

;)

Congrats on being on the list....a list....a list with other published authors.

It's better than being on the very much longer list of people still waiting to be published...

right?

Take care -

Everytime I google myself, I find a bunch of message boards posting about the release schedule for WotC, and calling it a whole lot of nothing just because it doesn't include their favorite shared world and that one addition they want for their RPG.

*Hey, Mods, should this thread be moved to a different forum? I know I started it here, but I've devolved into an OP sort of post, haven't I?

They're talking around me, not about me! I'm in this big web-room, and everyone is talking about what isn't there instead of what's there!

Rr. I need a review or two, soon. And more pizza.

With an on-sale date in February, look for reviews beginning in November, and mostly in January. It's way too early to expect reviews. I don't have any insight into whether PW will review your book, but they and Kirkus generally review books 3 months prior to release. Library magazines are a month or so later. Mainstream media - newspapers, and general circulation magazines like People or Entertainment Weekly - review books at the on sale date or shortly after.

Try and calm down.
