Haven't seen it, but interested, since it's a movie about Jane Austen, and I really like Anne Hathaway.

For those who've seen it, what do you think?

I've read that the pressure to play Jane Austen -- one of Hathaway's favorite authors -- was so great that she almost quit. She was terrified by whether she could pull it off.

I haven't seen it, but the story kind of peeves me off for two reasons.

One it suggests that Jane had this amazing romance that went wrong and that's why she ended up alone.

Two that she based her stories on her real life.

One upsets me because Jane was a fiercely independent person and why couldn't she have simply chosen not to marry.

Two upsets me even more because it follows that same tired tract that what authors write are only manifestations of what they have experienced in real life. God forbid should an author create something out of thin air. Using their, gasp, imagination.

Plus it is getting really mediocre reviews.

All this is a pity because I really like both Anne and James Macroy (sp?).
