Hi all; I know that a lot of you write for the secular market, which is great, but I'm curious--if you were to write for the Christian market, what types of writing might you consider doing (or what types do you already do)?

In the poll, check all that apply...

I've got a great idea for an article I'm going to pitch to Christianity Today sometime in the near future. -- Hey, I can dream can't I?

I made the mistake of writing a non-fiction book for the Christian market before realizing I had no credentials or platform. Alas, publishing it (basically an in-depth study on the emotions of Jesus, looking for patterns) is a long shot and I've put it on hold. If nothing else, I'll dump it out on lulu.com and print some for family, friends and the book table at church.

I write fiction in both the Christian and secular markets - they are not as dissilimar as they once were syle wise (meaning the Christian market tended to lag behind sytlisitically, which often made the writing/chracterization/genre seems stilted and too sweet or perhaps even amateurish. That just isn't the case anymore (and yes, you can find examples of it in the Christian market but you can find the same in the secular)

Artlady - WOW, I love your picture and don't think it's too big. Gorgeous - have you thought of doing cover art?

Kansas! Again.
Christian mythos make for great novel fodder--two ultimate forces with distinct personas battling one another in the glorious realm of the Public Domain, each with armies and a goal--but then, I'm not sure I'd write the sort of story you guys are talking about.

Plus, angels are really in vogue right now.

Sorry! :) I know this isn't an all-inclusive poll. I'm just interested in these categories for now, though. To be honest, Roger and I were tossing around the idea of doing a contest in the Christian forum, and I'm trying to gauge the interest of our posters in writing in these different categories.

Thanks for all the responses, all. Keep them coming! :)

Actually, it was mostly Pat's idea. She's the Social Director. I'm the Enforcer. *sound of fist striking hand* :D

One of the things Pat and I are going to do is introduce more writing related threads here. The Christian discussions are great, but not really what this forum is all about.

If you've got any suggestions for contests or other creative things we could do here, why not PM one (or both) of us.

Also, more threads about the issues surrounding Christian writing would also be greatly appreciated.

Goodie, more writing threads! I must admit, I go to another board for discussions on Christianity and prophecy, and just don't have time to participate in them here.

What????

(Is there any other board?) ;)
