Middle Grade, as in upper primary children's writing--chapter books for ages around eight to twelve. It is followed by YA (Young Adult), although there's a tween category squeezing in there somewhere.

Blacbird, you're right. I also taught--in a community college--and discovered that asking silly questions of my students either 1) caused them to improve, or 2) to drop out. Either way, it was a win-win situation.

I have to third that silly questions do indeed exist. And the latest I came across did not come from any form of student. Rather, it came from my boss, a state level manager of a large national company. It's a bit scary.

FWIW, I always preferred my college Latin teacher's take on it: "There are no silly questions, only silly people."
Of course, I wouldn't have appreciated it if I'd been the one to ask her the question.
