Help me find an appropriate quote

I need a quote about the role reversal that occurs between parents and children. IE, the parent raises the child, and then the parent becomes the child.

I was thinking perhaps something from King Lear? Or... something else entirely? If you can think of anything off of the top of your head, let me know.

The only quote that comes to mind from King Lear is:

"Out vile jelly! Where is thy luster now?" as Cornwall is stabbing some guy in the eye with his dagger. It stuck with me in high school and I've never been able to extricate it from my brain.

Erma Bombeck had a great column about this published in one of her books, If Life is a Bowl of Cherries, What Am I Doing in the Pits? If you can find it in a secondhand bookshop, I'd snatch it up just for that column. It's titled, "When Did I Become the Mother and the Mother Become the Child?"

It might not be what you're looking for, though. It's contemporary literature, for one thing. And it's humor. But I swear, that woman knows how to grab your heartstrings and twist.
