Hi
See below for full details!
I saw this on Mandy.com and wondered if any would like to join in. I think I will write something. Already got a couple of ideas floating in my head. Maybe after on the 16th we could post them in SYW.
Any takers? If you do then you will need to go to mandy.com to send the script to the person, or it can be done just as a writing exercise on AW.
PLEASE let me know if any one is up to writing a short. We have 2 weeks.
Kevvers.
Vacancy: Writers to submit One-Acts
Employer: aSheks Productions
Location: Manhattan
Duration: Submission deadline August 15, starts August 1
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Payment is on a lo/no/deferred basis.
Looking for talented writers to submit one-act plays (no longer than 15 minutes) based on the following concept:
3:54 AM on a Saturday night/Sunday morning. One apartment building. Each apartment has it's own story. What is going on behind closed doors at 3:54 AM? If you are awake at this time, you are awake for a reason. 3:54 is neither morning nor night. Neither today nor tomorrow. Are you just getting home? Are you having trouble sleeping? Are you alone? Are you with company? The possibilities are endless.
A little more info.: I am a director, producer, and actor. I am somewhat new to the NY theatre scene but have experience writing, producing, and acting in a wide array of plays and musicals in both Boston and northern NJ. Most recently, I directed the sketch comedy group Pangea 3000 in their NYC debut performance. Currently, I work in production for a major television network and take classes at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts.
This idea is the brainchild of myself and a television-producer friend of mine. We are both eager to dig into a creative endeavor and produce an exciting new theatrical work. We are both passionate about this project and extremely professional. However, it is important to know that this will be a very informal process. We are hoping to receive all submissions by August 15th. At that time, we will be choosing approximately 8 pieces to develop into a staged reading that will take place in mid-September at a location TBD. Based on feedback from this reading, we are then hoping to produce a full-scale production of the entire play also at a location TBD and at a time TBD (however, we will not want to lose any steam after the reading).
So, we are hoping you will have fun with this concept and submit as many times as you like. Be creative with your submissions and try to avoid cliche. "Winning" playwrights will have the opportunity to see their work read and potentially performed. It's going to be a fun process and I am looking for individuals willing to collaborate and just go-with-the-flow as kinks are worked out. This is currently an upaid opportunity. I am not a conman and I will not resell your work.
Please email me with any questions.
Looking forward to hearing from you!
