I can't believe it! This is the second time in two weeks this has happened to me. I just finished reading "Misspent Youth" by Peter F. Hamilton and I am absolutely livid. I'm so angry that I feel like breaking everything around me. I swear I'll never read another book by him again, which is a shame because he's a great writer and story teller and I enjoy most of his stuff.
I've no problem with bad things happening to good people. I've no problem with there being no justice. But I just cannot stand passive charecters who do nothing. Obviously he's a skilled writer and he made me care a lot about the charecter, but his treatmet of the charecter is utterly ridiculous.
Oh well.. just needed to vent. God damn you Mr. Hamilton. I swear, no charecter I write is ever going to be so passive that you just want to beat them into reacting.
It's not me, I read the kite Runner last week, and as poignant and tragic and sad as it was, I was fine with it. It was a good book with believable characters. I guess I just can't deal with it when an author sacrifices his characters so cheaply
