This is one for UK Absolute Writers. Does anyone's bank have a cashpoint machine with that set-up where the machine gives you a sealable envelope, you put cash/cheques in, and then feed the envelope into a slot. I'd like to write a scene where a character does this, outside banking hours. My bank's cashpoints don't have this, but I've at least seen it at building societies I think. My book is set in London, so it would need to be one of the big English high street banks, I guess.

This is only available with my bank for cashpoints that are inside a building (not the main banking hall but a separate room with external access) so you use your card to open the door. There would be a rack holding the envelopes and cctv.

I'd not thought of that, and it could work well for the purposes of the scene I'm writing.

I'm with the cooperative bank, and at least a couple of years ago they used to have at least one cash machine in London (The Angel) that did this & was outside. They mighht have moved them indoors now (Ive certainly recently seen a number of them indoors rather than out).

I'm an American living in England. I was amazed when I came over to find that you could not 'pay in' at the ATMs. Recently, however, the Halifax bank has installed machines inside which do accept pay ins. I'm never inside any other banks, so I'm not sure if this is the only one.

I've never seen it at any bank. For sure, Nat West doesn't have it.
The only place I've seen this in the UK is at the Town Council. They allow you to pay your council tax at a machine; you pay the bank notes directly into the machine.
