Missing Writer??? May flights of angels carry you
In February, in response to a query I had submitted, I was asked for a partial, and with that partial came exclusivity for three months. I agreed and forwarded the requested chapters, and heard nothing back at all. Over four months later, after submitting more queries regarding this work, I received letter from the first publisher, apologizing for taking so long to get back to me, and requesting the full m/s. They accept that the period of exclusivity has long past. With the m/s, I sent along a letter explaining that I had sent out more submission queries, but that I would try to oblige as best I could. Now, here's my problem: knowing the snafu's of getting small packages across the border, I sent the m/s via expedited mail four weeks ago. I am supposed to be able to track the process and get notified upon delivery, however it seems that my package has been held up in customs, for what, I have been told, could be up to three months. What do I do? Do I contact the publisher and say that the m/s is enroute or does that make me look like an overanxious dweeb? Do I wait till the end of the week (or someother magic milestone) and then e-mail her? Does the extended period of time to get something from here to there mean that she may believe the m/s no longer available and me to be incredibly rude for not replying?
