My friend wrote a beautiful poem for funeral homes, you know, one of the poems that people read for lost loved ones. But she was wondering if there are any companies out their that publish these "poems." An english teacher told her is was very wonderful and that it should be published but she doesn't know where to look.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

So nobody knows about this huh? Well that's ok. She just thought it could get published by one of those companies to be in the funeral homes. Sounds creepy I know :)

I wrote a funeral poem for my mother's funeral, but never thought about trying to publish it. Maybe your friend should try the Religious market. That sort of market isn't really my thing, but I think it would be a good place for her to start. Another idea would be to ask the funeral homes themselves about what publications they consult for poetry, etc.

I write a poem for any member of my (and my husband's) extended families. This has sort of become a family tradition - I try to capture the essence of the person leaving us. Some family members have suggested that I do this for other people, but I have not looked into that possibility.
But, one thing you can try is what lady cat suggested -contact the funeral homes and find out - you know, maybe what company they get their books and literature from that is aimed at comforting the family.

Ok thanks for the help guys.
Anthology markets.
There's definitely one company which does anthologies of poetry for funerals. They don't call it that - Poems for the Departed or something similar I think - but I'm bush for August and away from my computer so I can't look up my anthology markets file.
Try anthology.com and google for anthology markets. It's an American company.

My husband has family in the funeral home business. He says there are a couple of trade mags for funeral home directors. It might be worth taking a look at one of the trade mags. Maybe you could advertise your poem in the classifieds section? Or at least see if anyone else is doing something similar?

This doesn't belong in Novels so I'm going to port you over to Poetry.
There is a company that publishes things exactly like this but doggone if I can recall what it is....
ETA: Google "obituary writers" and see if that gives you any ideas. I did and the search turned up lots of links that might be helpful to you.
I know you didn't say anything about obituaries, but that word worked better for the search engine...at least when I tried. Okay. Going away now. :D
