Another Version?

Hi, everyone. In a revision for an agent, I made my YA into a tween novel. I think both of them are good and work well, but have continued to send out queries for my YA novel. Would it be acceptable to put a note like, "Also available is a tween version of this manuscript, taking place at a middle school with a thirteen-year-old main character," in the query somewhere? That way they could request either one.

I wouldn't! Sell whichever version you prefer like it's going out of style. In my opinion, offering both makes it sound like you're not sure of yourself.

I agree with greywaren. However, it's kind of a sticky situation. Are you allowed to send different versions to different agents depending on what you think they might like best? :Shrug:

Yes - just keep track of which one each has! I use a chart I created in Word to keep track of submissions, and it would be easy to add which version of a piece I sent if I was in your situation.
