I'm not new to playwriting, but exactly what does someone mean when they want you to provide "a list of acts and scenes" on your title page? I can't get a hold of the person who asked for it, so I'm hoping some of the fine folks here have a clue, cuz I don't.

I obviously don't give my acts and scenes individual titles so I'm really confused why they would need this. Is this standard? If so, I missed that particular memo.

Thanks for your input.

Hmm, "a list of acts and scenes" -- nope, no idea! My first guess would be a list of the sets used in each Act, e.g.

ACT I
Scene 1: Elsinore. A platform before the castle.
Scene 2: A room of state in the castle.
Scene 3: A room in Polonius' house.
Scene 4: The platform.
Scene 5: Another part of the platform.

ACT II
Scene 1: A room in Polonius' house.
Scene 2: A room in the castle.
etc.

I have never heard of anyone being asked for a list of acts and scenes unless they needed info for sets/locations like Derek guessed.

Thanks, guys. Unless someone comes up with a more definitive suggestion, I'll go with yours.
