Carey to host The Price Is Right

Drew Carey will be the new host of The Price Is Right. Seems like a pretty good choice, imo.

Fans of Bob will need some time to adjust, but as long as Carey doesn't try to be Bob, he should be fine.

I think Drew Carey will be good. It could be funny. Though I think Serenity is right about his comedy upstaging the game might be a bit of a concern.

I don't think he'll try to be Bob, though.

Sorry, but I have to say I'm glad Rosie didn't get it. *shudder* I think it's her personality that rubs me the wrong way.

I'm very unhappy with the choice.

I like Drew.

But this show is a classic because of the contestants and the pointless pricing games.

They were the star and Bob Barker, with a gentle hand, a winning smile and a enthusiastic, affable persona was able to guide us through and make us feel warm and fuzzy.

Drew Carrey is a big name and big personality. He will overshadow the hometown, kitchy feel about the show that we all love and grew up with.

We were home sick from school and we knew Bob and his beauties would comfort us for that one hour.

We needed a warm blanket host, not a beer and pretzels host.

Oh well.

The 50's are dead and I guess the Price is Right had to go sometime as well.

Isn't Drew Carey known for hosting wild stripper parties?

The boy likes to party (and why shouldn't he if he has the money to keep strippers interested in him).

How will the 60 year old plus middle America housewife audience react once behind the scene pictures of Carey banging the two Turtle Wax slathered spokesmodels on top of the new Maytag washer/dryer combo start surfacing on the net?

I think Drew Carey will bring something to the show...he has his own style so i'm not worried about him trying to be like Bob.

Personally i'm happy with the choice. He's younger than the others who were in consideration and can carry the show for many years to come

That's why he stinks.

HE WON'T CARRY THE SHOW FOR YEARS TO COME.

The reason why The PRice is Right has been a warm fuzzy blanket for all of is because we always knew that Bob would be there. Through thick and thin.

Carey is a temp.

3-5 years tops. TOPS!!!!!!!!!!

I wanted an unknown. A permanent host. A guy I could count on tomorrow and ten years from now.

To hug me if the cliffhanger guy went over the cliff.

To scold me if I missed a two foot putt with a new car on the line.

Carey aint that guy. He's a gimmick host.

I miss Richard Dawson. And btw, Tour, Bob Barker was/is a womanizing party animal, but people overlooked it because he was such a sweetheart on T.V. I think Drew is cut from the same mold - the sweet, cuddly T.V. icon whose partying middle-America chooses not to hold against him. Plus Drew looks like a 50's throwback. But I have a day job so I won't be watching him anyway.

I think Drew Carey is a bad choice, too young and has tasteless humor for The Price is Right. The show needs someone older who is upbeat and funny. After watching Dancing with the Stars, I was hoping George Hamilton would be the host. He is older, funny and can keep the show lively in my opinion.

I'm glad at least it wasn't Rosie O'Donnell who was suggested as the show's host. Yikes, that would've been terrible. Drew Carey isn't too bad a choice. I thought Chuck Woolery would have been super, but he prolly has lots of irons in the fire as it is.

Why don't they just cancel it? Seems to me a lot of people are not happy with the choice...but everyone has a right to their opinion and that's fine..But sometimes we can't always get what we want.

I like Drew Carey just fine. I liked him in The Drew Carey Show until I just couldn't take the ribbing between him and Mimi anymore and stopped watching it altogether. I have no idea what happened in the last couple seasons.

He's okay in Whose Line, but come on, Drew, watch the original British version and see how host Clive Anderson did it better. Maybe don't put yourself into the sketches and stay on the sidelines for once.

But Drew on Price is Right? Billythrilly had it right: Drew will host it five years, tops. The thing is, as we saw from Bob Barker, hosting Price is Right is a lifelong commitment. There's not much room to do anything else. Granted, Drew hasn't been doing any movies and not much TV, but PIR appears to be an all-consuming affair. RARELY did we see Bob Barker appear outside the show. And Drew is still young and has a long career in front of him, and I think he might just get "stuck" in PIR.

JMHO, of course.

Hmm...

On one hand, Drew's got that Everyman thing going for him, which is kind of what PiR banks on. He could be a perfect fit.

On the other hand...he might be tempted to use the show as a platform for his comedy act.

Have to wait and see I guess.
