Does anyone else love this kickass show?

And miss it?

I read that it will never be released on DVD due to licensing...all the popular songs they used. But it's sooooo coooooool. I miss Daria :(

Oh my god, I *love* Daria! She was totally me as a teenager, albeit about ten years too late. I first discovered Daria back when she showed up on Beavis and Butthead.

Wonder if they could issue the DVD but get contemporary artists to contribute songs -- I mean, i can totally see Fall Out Boy and My Chemical Romance singing along to Daria's world.

Daria was an awesome show!! I miss it too. Daria also had two TV movies and you can get them from amazon.com. The movies are called "Is it Fall Yet?" and "Is it College Yet?" I have "Is It College Yet?" and it also has a couple bonus episodes on it.

Also a fan. My sister's name is Daria, which is how I first found out about it, but I resemble the character a lot more than she does.

It's not like I have the money to pick up DVDs of every show I like---in fact, it's not like I have money, period. But that still stinks. I wonder if there's any way to substitute songs for the artists who don't want theirs on there. (That sentence wasn't my best, but you know what I mean.)

I read that the licensing thing has to do with there being SO many songs by various artists that it'd just be too much of a pain to get permission from everyone. Something like that?

I'm more of a Jane I guess. But damn is that show funny. How is it that there is only like one INcomplete episode on youtube?

Totally buying the DVDs.

oh man. educate yourself.

And oh sick! Not that this is in any way recent. At least there are thousands of signatures on the petition to bring out DVDs. And there are PAL vhs....

In July 2004, fan Michelle Klein-Hass reported that MTV was currently investigating options for a DVD release of more Daria episodes.[3] She quoted co-creator Glenn Eichler as saying: "[T]here's no distributor and no release date but what there is, is very strong interest from MTV in putting Daria out, and steady activity toward making that a reality."[

Daria...I met her during a "Daria Marathon" one hung-over Sunday. I have loved her every since (although I am kinda more stuck on her funky g.f.). I would definitely buy a dvd of it. Damn I loved that show. Remember that dumb-ass blonde cheerleader and her dumb-ass Q.B boyfriend? Awesome stuff.

Yeah, this is what held back WKRP in Cincinnati (kids! Ask your parents!) for so long. They went back and forth on how to do it: a DVD set at a reasonable price with stock music, or pay through the nose for the music rights and risk alienating customers/fans with outrageous pricing on the set; if they'd gotten the rights, they were looking at $50-$60, maybe more, for a two-disk set (one season) just to help begin paying for them.

At least when Daria was on The N, they used stock music but edited the hell out of it; just about all of the language was gone and many of the Sick Sad World bumpers disappeared.

I love Daria. I discovered it when I was working at Wal-Mart during college, and some friends started singing the "La, la, la, la" every time I would come around. I finally asked them about it, and they said I reminded them so much of Daria, the way she looked and acted, and that was the theme song. I'd never even seen it, so I started watching it. I fell in love with this show. I would so buy the DVD if they came out with it.

I totally loved Daria! I wish it still came on. I, too, wish they could/would come out on DVD. Thanks for the tip about finding some on MySpace and on Amazon. :D

Two steps left of sanity
I first found Daria on the N, not having MTV back in the day. While the eternal wait for DVDs goes on, I have hope that with so many networks popping up on cable and satellite, someone, somewhere will air it again. It's perfect to fill up the night on VH1 classic. That said, I reveal myself as a geeky fan and suggest folks needing a Daria fix go to www.outpost-daria.com. He's not updating the site anymore, but I enjoyed the chance to read through episode guides for eps that I missed, went through a computer icon phase, etc. Just a suggestion to ease those Daria, Jane, Trent cravings.

OMGoodness, my siblings and I would always say "You're standing on my neck!" every time we saw Daria's opening. We'd say it to the point where our mother would get irritated and ban us from using the phrase. hahaha.
