Grammar software? MS Word? WhiteSmoke? Or?

I use the MS Word Spell Check/Grammar tools, and they work well enough, certainly better than I can do. Are there other programs that might be better? I've heard good/bad things about White Smoke, but would like to hear comments before buying it.
