Just had to do a little celebrating. 100,000 words has been my target length and I've been steadily working towards breaking that barrier. And I finally did it! Right now! Well, about two minutes ago.

I thought I was going to hit it last week but I got to 98K and realized that I needed to work out some major plot holes/problems before I could go on. So all week I've been slogging through my notes and doing rearranging and deleting... which brought me down to 96K! Oh man!

Buuuut I pushed my way through it and here I am!!! 100K! This is officially the longest thing I've ever written. Hooray!

Oh, and no... it's not done yet. I have about ten more scenes to write, which is probably going to be 10 or 20K. But I'm GETTING THERE!

So, anyone else who would like to join in and celebrate their own word count accomplishments, feel free to join in!

I hit 51K tonight. That feels like a major breakthrough.

Congratulations on your 100K. That's a hell of a lot of work.

5,000 here!

okay, yeah, that's pretty much nothing compared to your 100,000k (which is awesome, so congradulations!) but i've had to switch narrative voice three times in those 5,000 words (don't worry, it's not as schizophrenic as it sounds) and I'm just happy that it's worked out...

But I think I'd rather celebrate your actual accomplishment, so :partyguy:

Thanks! BTW, I also celebrated when I hit 50K. Halfway mark! Woo hoo!

Haha, thanks. And personally I think the first 5K are often the hardest. I'm the kind of person who has to get off on the right foot so I will often rewrite the first chapter or two over and over again until I feel like it's good enough to go on. Ugh.

Who-ho Nightshade!

Currently, my acomplishments are as follows...ahem.

Packing for Alpha, which means I've gotten in. Huzza!
I've just become a Paladin in Gothic 2 and have freed the city of Cape Dun in Gothic 3.
A new story idea that's weird and funny.

Pretty impressive, huh?

Yey!

21K on my second WIP is my big milestone because it means it'll probably be at least a couple thousand words longer than the first, which I'm editing. Plus I've written this in only a couple of weeks.

1. Congratulations on getting into Alpha.
2. Paladins make me sick, all goody-two-shoes. :tongue Never played one. Give me a Mercenary any day. Or a Mage. Although those weed-smoking Temple valley boys in G1 were fun, too.
3. New story ideas are always a good thing.

I shall smite thee with the power of Innos!

Ha! You won't even see me, Pallsy Wallsy. I'm an assassin. I'll have a couple of arrows in your back before you even know I'm there. And I'll pick your pocket before hand. :D

Um, what does this have to do with accomplishments?

You guys are such nerds.

*Sigh*

You're right. I'm too old for this kind of silliness. :D Everyone says so. But I do like my RPG's. Instead of beating my head against the wall I can cast fireballs at Orcs. And I have a couple of dandy Lightsabres in case any Sith happen along.

How about synchronicity!?? I was just wanting to post that I hit 50,000 tonight...a few minutes ago and of course popped right in here to celebrate! I've never written anything even close to this long so I'm in uncharted territory! I feel amazing though! But 100,00! WOW. Now THAT'S something to cream about! Congrats to both of us and everyone else meeting their goals here!!:partyguy:

Congratulations, Jo! How does it feel? (coming from someone who's still stuck in prep phase, and is just about ready to begin)

 Congratulations. To JoNightshade (awesome) and to all the others too.

When I reached 65,000 words I was desperate to celebrate, but hadn't discovered this wonderful site yet. So I had a very quiet little private celebration. This is much better! Sharing with people who know the pain of putting hundreds of words on blank pages.

In a house, silly!
Congrats!!!!

I am in new territory as well - but than again, I reach a new marker for the most I have ever written everytime I pick up my pencil since I crossed the 17k mark.

I know how you feel about having to do edits and cuts - I ended up cutting like 1200 words a while back because I decided I was going to go a different direction with a particular scene.

Brava!

And still another 20K to go? Excellent! A fellow "doorstopper". (My first draft ended up at 173K, but I had to knock it back to 149.)

80... 90... 100... We want more!! ;)

Is it really a doorstopper??? I've been thinking it's around 350 pages, which I don't consider very long. Maybe I'm just used to reading 800-page epics. ;)

Anyways thanks everyone for the congrats and I wish you all well in pursuing your own goals!!!

Now... on to the finish line!!

I know I felt amazed when I hit 100K on my first novel. It's still the longest thing I've ever written -- having gone from about 103K on the first draft to 113K on the second and will probably clock in about 98K after the current polish.

Yes it's fantasy.

Congrats it's a great milestone.

Nice job! :hooray:

First novel, currently 157k words and just started around 3 of rewrites. At this point, it's only going to go up.
