Is the story of the dictator of a Banana Republic is desposed to a little unpopulated island

Because there is a despute between the Banana Republic he comes (an island) and a neighboring Banana Republic (another island) this is just no man's land he declares this island has his own republic and because he is friend of the dictator of Banana Republic B, his friend recognizes the tiny island republic under the promess that when he returns to power the Banana Republic will have again the tiny island

He spreads the rumor that there is oil in the island, people from the important nations of the world and big companies send people to the island to research but when they say that first they must check if there is actually any oil, he throws out the people of the island mumbing something about gringo capitalism-imperialism

Now the government of the big northamerican nation is scared that the island may not want to sell their oil to them, so they decide to invade the island, the first attempt is a complete failure (the island is so small that the jets passed it and the battleships couldn't arrive to the port) so the one-man nation gets the sympathy of the world as another victim of imperialism and they send donations for the poor people of the tiny island making his only inhabitant living like a king

Another attempt of invasion have success but when they discover that is only populated by a man and his servants and that the only oil is canned olive oil the gringos go. Saying that will name the little island a Commonwealth "akin Puerto Rico" and naming his main inhabitant Governor

This was the dictator's plan all along so he could live off the great northamerican nation the rest of his days, but the tables are turned when under the world's pleassure the great northamerican nation is obligated to give them their complete freedom

And the dictator ends up pretty much how he starts

I just wrote this in an anxiety hurry

Calm down Max. We keep good ideas to ourselves and just post snippets of our work.

The Mouse That Roared. I guess that means it's feasible; you simply have to add to it so it doesn't look like a freshman pastiche.

Good. You have an idea. Now take it and play with it and start molding it like modelling clay until you feel you are there. Then write. Polish it up until it's good and shiny and either post in SYW here or give to another beta. Submit when pleased. Repeat.

:welcome:

and by the way, it's banana republic. The clothing giant Banana Republic might take ombrage at being used in this manner. :)

Idea

Ideas are meaningless. Anyone can come up with a hundred ideas in nothing flat. What matters is how well you turn an idea into a real, honest to God short story. You have an idea. Great. Now comes the hard part. Take this idea and turn it into a story we'd like to read.

Max - interesting idea. I know your location has a lot to do with the perspective.

See if you can't write this up as a flash or short short story - It would be a fun exercise.
