The environmentalist in me admires their initiatives and hopes others follow suit.

The old cynic wonders if it's a ploy to court the green con$umer.

But the latter doesn't matter so much I suppose, as long as the former is successful. ;)

Well, actually--any publisher involved in the Green Press Initiative is also committed to environmental publishing. There are a lot of them out there. Which is good.

Honestly, I really don't care in the least. Any sane business does what's best for the bottom line. Some try to mask this as environmentalism, others just say it's cheaper.

Still, when a business man can find a way to both turn a profit and make a change to a business plan that is beneficial to society, that should be lauded. Environmentalism can be profitable; it is hardly the most obvious way to be so.

If you had read the policy you would probably have more trite comments about the donation of journals and books to developing nations- an action which would introduce more readers to authors and inspire them to read. As an author you surely don't want more readers out there, now do you????:poke:

Please play nice, talkwrite. James didn't personally attack you, he simply spoke his piece. Please do the same.
