Okay, I'm looking for some works which fit one or more of the below criteria:

- Modern American social commentary
- Satire
- Witty humor, but with substance
- Stupid and risque things that happen in a New York City
- Fresh ideas and themes
Any suggestions appreciated.

Hi Aiden. Your post is a little vague. What kind of "works?"

Are you fishing for homework help?

ETA: Doh me. I missed your subject line. So it's books you're interested in. I think this may not be the best forum for what you're after but I'd still like some further elucidation before deciding where it should go.

One of the books which interest me is “Tales of a New York Limo Driver” by Nicky Testaforte. It talks about the stupid and risque things that happen in a New York City limo.

Not only does the author tell amazing stories of sex, excess and stupidity, he also offers up a bunch of driving and travel tips, some very sarcastic and scathing. I found the book at amazon.com

Aiden,
The best place to start is to do a search on Amazon for books that fit your criteria. Find the ones that best fit your idea of what would compete or complement your book. Then make sure they are in print (no publisher is interested in a competing book that's out of print). Then say how your book is different or would fit in well in this genre/category. You need to do the legwork on this so you can understand where your book will fit and what else is out there. Good luck!

I'm with everybody else here ... kinda bewildered.

If you want satires I could start with 'The Frogs' and 'Candide' and 'A Modest Proposal' and 'The Importance of Being Ernest' and go on for two or three hundred works right off the top of my head
and not one of them would be remotely useful to you
because you do not want to know about 'satire'.

Can you just say what you want,
(i.e. I want to compare my sausages with other moderately-priced, garlic hot dogs,)
instead of tossing out broad categories,
(i.e. tell me about meat products, herbal flavorings and brand loyalty)?

I love Chuck Palahniuk for satire and brilliant modern social commentary. Of course Fight Club was his masterpiece.

For witty humor with substance, I liked "D---,Why Didn't I Write That?" It's details a handful of non-fiction books written by non-experts that have made $100,000+ dollars.

Funny thing, here...adien122 posted this same message on other boards, always followed within hours by santiago9 to promote a vanity-published book, both being the only posts on those boards by those usernames....

Methinks we've been spammed.
