I recently ventured into the Religion forum on MySpace for the first time and I have to say GOD BLESS MODERATORS! Man, that forum is just a frenzy of ignorance and hatred. Teenagers + anonymity + boredom = get me back to the sanity of AW!

Far be it from me to usurp this thread (oh, BTW, Congratulations, Pat, I'm sure you'll do a great job!), but it's not just the fact that there are moderators on AW that makes it work as well as it does. A certain huge online auction site has "discussion boards" with "moderators" that no one sees (moderation is actually contracted out to a separate company!), messages and threads are often deleted yet the boards are chock full of trolls, drama queens of ~~both~~ all genders, and other online undesirables.

Here on the AW boards we have it even better than I think most people realize. Good going for ALL the mods! :e2cheer:

I haven't been on this particular part of the forums for quite some time, but when I saw the thread title on the main board, I wondered who the new mod might be.

Pat, congratulations. I think you are probably one of the most well-qualified individuals for the co-mod position that this particular portion of AW has seen in a long time. I know you and Roger (I'm not sure if Betty is still around anymore ... I haven't seen her in a long time) will work well together. I like the fact you have been chosen for this position not only because of your patience with people who do not understand Christianity or its manifold different ideas, but also because of your attitude of humility and kindness toward all people.

I wish you the very best with your new-found position, and I hope you enjoy being a co-moderator.
