I'm working on my next non-fiction book/proposal.
I'm compiling my agent list, and trying to figure out the exact genre.

My book is inspirational, and filled with short stories about life. (Think Chicken Soup...)

Is this narrative non-fiction, creative non-fiction or something else- (like a memoir?) All the stories are my own.
Need help identifying my target. The lines seem blurred on what distinguishes creative non-fiction, and it appears only 2 agents on writers market represent it?
Hmmm...

Kristen Nelson had a post on 6/25 on what to call "creative nonfiction" and other nonfiction genres.

Definitely drop the term creative non-fiction. It implies there's such a thing as noncreative nonfiction which is complete and utter rubbish. Assuming the short stories describe through events, it's a collection of true stories. If they are fictionalized (altered names, plots and places) it's not nonfiction.

Thanks for the comments. "Creative" non-fiction is a term that is slung around too freely these days. I think that many authors use it to avoid doing the dirty, thankless task of thorough research.
