I just wanted you all to know, I submitted an Erotica work today that I finished last night.

I would never have been able to submit a short piece like this a couple years ago, in any genre, to any company. Back then I was solely interested in novels of the Fantasy/SF persuasion.

The work is called The Job, and I submitted it to what Duotrope.com calls a semi-pro market. I decided to aim high like Uncle Jim always advises people to do. If it works out, great. If it doesn't work out, at least I did my very best and maybe another company will accept it.

In any case, I wanted you all to know this, because as many of you already do know, over the last two years I've not published very much. (A couple articles to Associated Content and that was about it.)

I hope you all have a good day today, and I have some work to do in a neighbor's apartment before long. I'll talk to you all later.

:)

Bravo! Now for the real question: what is this *work* of which you speak? ;)

I call it The Job, and it's a little more than 3,000 words in length. I don't know if it's okay to mention who I submitted to or not here, which is why I have yet to do so.

LMAO! I was actually trying to make a smarmy reference to the *work* you had to do in a neighbor's apartment. Don't mind me; I have grits for brains.

Sorry. I see what you're saying now.

:D

I had to clean my neighbor's place. Years ago I was a professional janitor, and I was able to offer my services to a neighbor who has some problems keeping his place clean.

Hi everyone!

I submitted my second Erotica piece today, to a website. It's not the same piece as I submitted to the other company, because the other company does not accept simultaneous submissions. But I think it's great I've taken this initiative and written -- and submitted -- a second Erotica piece. This is coming along quite nicely.

:D

Behind you!
Sean, it's great to see you spreading your wings. I'll be making my next sale when the publishers start going door to door, asking if anybody's got some erotica for sale. (I know, I know--submit it already!)

As far as I know, there's no reason not to mention where you've submitted, but no obligation to, either. It's up to you.

I gotta admit I'm curious. Were both submissions to paying markets? Paying well, or little, or only in copies (and 'street cred,' a.k.a. publishing credits)? Print or e-publication? Bigger than a breadbox?

Both submissions were to paying markets. One went to an e-zine, and the other one went to a print magazine. I still haven't heard yet from either whether or not they've accepted the works I sent them. The print mag pays 4 cents a word, while the e-zine pays $25.00 flat fee for a short story.

Just so everyone knows, I did not do a simultaneous submission, because one company didn't allow it. Instead, I submitted one piece to one company, and a different piece to another company.

But I'm trying to aim high like Uncle Jim always talks about over in the Writing Novels section of AW. Because of this, I started out with the best mag I could find that does my kind of Erotica (namely vanilla). I still don't know if it's appropriate to name the companies online or if that's not considered good business, which is why I have yet to mention who I sent them to. But if I mentioned them, I'm pretty sure a lot of the other Erotica writers here would know who I'm talking about.

Anyway, as far as credits goes, I'd say probably at least the print mag is a legit credit. I'm not certain of the e-zine, so I can't say either way with that publication.

But in any effect, I did submit to paying markets, and I'm hoping to hear from them in the next few days.

:)

Hi again everyone!

The piece I submitted to the e-zine was rejected this afternoon. I've gone ahead and submitted it elsewhere.

I'm glad I'm finally taking this job seriously. I hope everything works out, and that I receive an acceptance soon.

:)

Congratulations on the writing and submissions, Sean.

By the way, are you familiar with justusroux.com? That site pays $10 per accepted story to host guest erotica writers every month.

I've heard of them somewhere before. I'm thinking Veinglory's forums, when I was a member there, but I'm not certain of it.

I might take a look at them, as I just received another rejection and I can't find very many places to submit Vanilla Erotica.

Thank you kindly for the suggestion.
