So I've been looking and looking with no luck. Nothing seems quite right for my short story. It's slightly sci-fi (think Children of Men/Margaret Atwood/etc.) and technology does not play anything close to a significant role in it. It's more politically- and character-centered.

Does anyone have any ideas? All the sci-fi magazines seem a little to sci-fi-ish, and all the lit magazines don't want genre fiction.

Thanks!

There are quite a few magazines that handle fantasy and magical realism, too -- Fantasy Magazine, F&SF, Another Realm . . .

You might look at Duotrope.com and Ralan.com

Try markets that publish "slipstream". Off the top of my head, Ideomancer and Strange Horizons are online mags that take this kind of fiction.

Good luck!
