Hi everyone,

I feel stupid, actually. Forget dumb.

Many of you might recall my antics of a few months ago, where I posted I was leaving the Erotica genre because of my girlfriend's worries. I offended a bunch of you, I'm pretty sure, and now I'm likely to offend a few more, although that's not my intent.

My girlfriend and I are no longer an item, for various reasons, not the least of which was her immense worry about everything. And the truth be known, I have regretted leaving the Erotica genre since the first day I made the decision to leave.

So I'm going to write Erotica again.

And that's where I know I'm going to offend some. The idea I would diss a genre and then come back to it simply has a bad ring to some people. But understand, please, that I left for the sole purpose of keeping my girlfriend from worrying about me. Now that she and I are no longer going out together, I see no reason to keep trying to please her in such a manner.

So I'm back. I'm not celebrating, nor do I expect anyone here to do so. But I wanted you all to know what's going on with me, and that I will be writing in this genre again. Whatever happens from this point on, happens.

I'll talk to you all later, hopefully. I hope you have a good night, and a decent weekend.

ETA:

I thought I would add quickly that I apologize for having offended so many of my fellow writers in what I did back then. Such was not my intent at the time, and I can only hope some of you will forgive my asinine ways back then. I was wrong in how I reacted to a great many of your posts. I'm sorry.

Sean, I'm celebrating your return, although I am sad things didn't work out for you and your girlfriend. You obviously cared about her very much, and I'm sorry you didn't have a happy ending.

But welcome back to the dark side! :e2teeth:

You don't have to apologize for leaving and coming back. We're not some kind of secert society, or are we? In any case there won't be any blood letting as punishment/to prove your loyalty to the clan. . . today. :)

Welcome back and apprently it hasn't been such a great time for relationships recently.

No problem. Glad you're following your writer's heart, whichever genre it leads you to.

Sean,
I wasn't around before so I can only respond to right now.

I don't know all the details but I can say this. It's tricky when someone you are dating or married to doesn't like the kind of writing you're doing or the occupation you're in.

My husband knows I write some erotica stories and it doesn't bother him at all. However, it would probably bother some people I'm friends with/family members so I don't talk about it very much.

The way I look at it is there is a market for everything, there is a need for all different kinds of writing. When I write greeting cards I write everything--from very religious verses to R-rated, maybe even X-rated cards. Writers should be versatile. Like actors. The same actor can play a good guy or a bad guy if he's a good actor.

Thanks for your kindness, everyone. I admit I was -- and am still -- quite worried I would have ended up offending a lot of people beyond their ability to forgive.

The relationship had a good ending, believe it or not. My former girlfriend and I are still good friends, but we're not going together anymore. We live in the same hallway in the same building, and we still talk and treat each other with respect. But thankfully we both know we're no longer an item.

Anyway, I appreciate very much your willingness, everyone, to welcome me back. I'm thinking of posting a short in the Erotica -- Share Your Work forum before long. I was so excited last night when I came back that I wrote a four-page manuscript that I'm hoping to get some feedback on. But I'll have to wait until I get my Third Draft done.

I hope you all have a good day, and an excellent weekend ahead. Talk to you later.

:)

Sorry to hear about you and your girlfriend...but welcome back to the dark side :)

As for writing erotica, my wife knows I write it but have a difficult time with other family members knowing about it--so it's highly unlikely that I'll have any published unless it's under a pen name... but who knows at this point.

Welcome back, Sean. Things happen, no hard feelings. I'm sorry things didn't work out for you with your girlfriend.

And quit worrying, I'm betting you're going to get a whole round of welcome backs. :D

We're not a secret society? There's no blood letting? What? RATS. *grumble, grumble*

haven't met you before Sean but welcome back. Hopefully, writing erotica and associating with us 'sinners' will cheer you up.

Damn it, what the f--- do you pussies mean, there's no bloodletting? C'mere, Sean, and bend over good and tight. I've got the most delicious silver-tipped martinet...

Oh, wait, that's only for display purposes. However, I could lend you a fuzzy brown bunny to cuddle.

Good to see you return to the written celebration of the amazing human body. (Well, except mine, but you know what I mean.) I'm a firm believer in writing what you'd like to read, and sometimes that's erotica.

Maryn, dragging today

I have no idea what anyone is talking about (although I do know what a martinet is:)). And I apologize for not being around previously to be offended, I always seem to miss out on those opportunities.
I will, thus and therefore, stand erect and proud awaiting a new slurr or unjust barb to come my way. Failing that, I'll take the martinet.

Well, I had to look it up. (I'm just too sweet and innocent.)

I do believe she was referring to this:

"A martinet is a short, scourge-like (multi-tail) type of whip made of a wooden handle of about 25 cm (10 inches) in length and about 10 lashes of equal, relatively short length. The lashes are usually made of leather."

Hmmm...that definition wasn't in MY dictionary.

You must have a different dictionary.

Welcome back, Sean,
And let this be a lesson to us all. Let no friend or loved one come between us and our muse.

Excuse me. I have to put Mom back out in the snow now....

Forever follow your heart. If you needed to leave for a time, look at it as taking a break. Now you're fresh. Shake it off, jump back in the saddle, light a fire under your muse.

I'd say break a leg, but you're not a dancer/gymnist, so, break a pen!

Thanks again, everyone.

I really appreciate the warm welcome-backs. I don't honestly know what to say ... except maybe that you might see one of my pieces in the SYW -- Erotica section soon.

I still have to check my 3rd Draft for problems beforehand, but it's looking pretty nice.

That martinet thing: is that the same thing as a Cat-of-nine-tails? I've heard horror stories about such whips, and I shudder merely thinking about them.

Of course we're a secret soceity with bloodletting! We just don't want everyone to know it! If everyone knew they'd all want to come play!

Actully that may not be such a bad thing. . .

Cat-o-nine-tails has little razor tips on the ends.

For those, like Sean, who didn't like that whip,

THIS is also a Martinet:

Really, I wanted a secret handshake and a few whips. Bummer

Welcome back. Erotica writers are a pretty forgiving bunch. And, heck, I offend lots of people.. so what the hey. Get that keyboard burning!

I'm kinda slow right now but correct me if I'm wrong, doesn't our little not so secret society offend a great many people? Like people we haven't even ever spoken to?

I mean taken into that context I think you're probably in the green with your little flounce, Sean :)

(Did I use that tern correctly, 'flounce'?)
