Antagonist: Hir. Nine foot tall, three eyed lizard with big teeth, big muscles, big guns, and a big attitude. Hir is an arrogant son of a bitch with an unhealthy fascination with human females and revenge against his much nicer brother, Udo. Really, the only thing in common with Udo and Hir is they look pretty much the same and they both like human females. Which is why they are both exiles from their fellow giant space lizard society. Hir shoots lots of people while gunning for the main characters. He's also got an unending supplies of explosives, and a vaguely Terminator like tenacity. And, just like the Terminator, he gets killed by Jimmy's girlfriend. Except that instead of a hydraulic press, it's a gravity generator. And instead of down, it's up!

I wanted to use a Finnish main character, but it felt sort of funny to be writing in English while she was a Finn, so I ended up making her a Finnish immigrant (her mother had married an American and they had moved there when she was a teen). The story happens in a paraller world with the usual trappings, it's the good old 'let's plant somebody from our world into a fantasy land' story line so I suppose it wouldn't have mattered, but, well, what's done is done.

WIP: Wench's tale (temporary title)

protagonist: Tikka. She has a friend, a ghost who calls itself Para.
antagonist: something called the Monkey God (has nothing to do with Hanuman, there are several gods in this world known as some animal or other god/goddess). Is actually several demons.

If you don't mind me asking a question here: is there something one could call a group of demons? A pack of demons? Flock? Murder?

About Tikka and Orhi: they are Finnish words. Tikka means woodpecker, Orhi is an older spelling of ori, which means stallion. I'm lazy. I write in English, so I thought it would be easy to use some Finnish words for character names instead of starting to make things from scratch. Well, I guess this would a good point to ask another question, does Orhi sound like a suitable name for a guy to you native English speakers?

There is also a meaning for para: it was thought that witches had spirits helping them, and they were called paras. Especially a para would help a witch to get butter, it would go and suck milk from the neighbors' cows and then go and throw that up as butter for the witch. Charming. Er, Tikka isn't a witch, and her Para is not into buttermaking.

For jpsorrow: I might end naming some character Varis sooner or later, but if I do that it wont be because I lifted the name of your character, it will be because there is also a Finnish word which is written like that. In Finnish 'varis' means crow and I like the idea of person being called that, and I have been planning to use it at some point. Hope you wont mind.

I recall you talking about Orion's Key in that dinosaur topic of yours back in late Dec. I noticed Devon Carter isn't in your character list. Just looking at your character names gives a good idea of who's human and who's dinosaur, heh.

BTW, incredibly off-topic, but I was planning a trip to Haines, Alaska at the end of this month. Unfortunately, my father proposed yet another trip that he failed to follow through with. I actually have a list of 3-4 failed trips that I plan on taking (& financing by myself) sometime in the future.:Shrug:

Anyway, my story is a.....fantasy about a ghost story set in the time of the dinosaurs. It's tentatively titled "The Ghostasaurus". Emphasis on tentative because I am still looking for a title that will appeal to readers older than 10.

Probably Dysentrous, but I've been toying with an idea along the lines of "Doriablos". His name is only mentioned once, anyway.

Most of those characters after the Utahraptors are actually rather minor *shrugs*. I feel somewhat sexist as only two of those characters (both main) are female. There's a whole slew of named female Deinonychus in one chapter, but they only have about one line each.

I haven't thought of any names for them yet, but I also wish to add some Dracorex characters to this story. Dracorex is the new species of dinosaur that were named in honor of the Harry Potter series. They replace the role of the Pachycephalosaurs in the story because they're so much more badass looking, though I feel a bit bad as they're still portrayed as thick-headed idiots.

Careful. In the Bible, starting in the Book of Judges and then thereafter for many many books, there is copious mention a fertility cult that worshipped the goddess Ashera. She was believed to bring plentiful bounty to a farmer's field. Her followers erected "Ashera Poles" in the yards outside their homes to signal to her that their household payed her homage and wanted her to descend and make their feilds fertile.

But these "Ashera poles" were actualy giant penises (think of a 12-foot high telephone pole that had been uniquely fashioned to entice her to "descend"). They were typically trees that had been pruned of all their limbs and the remaining trunks were then sculpted at their tops to resemble penises.
