one favorite used to be Dark Side of The Moon, but the LP wore out.
Synergy, Metropolitan Suite
White Album, or at least the best half of it.
... dunno, I got lots of LP's and haven't even listened to them all.

Honorable mentions:
Wendy Carlos, Beauty In The Beast
Heart, Dreamboat Annie
The Court of The Crimson King
Tubular Bells

ETA: Do lists like these give away our ages? The latest one in my lists is well over 10 years old...

Dang. Ya beat me to the thread. I was going to post this two weeks ago when NPR ran a segment on the 40th anniversary of Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band and how it is generally regarded as one of the greatest albums ever.

But my short post has turned into a 500+ word essay on why each album on my list is my favorite and I never got around to posting it.

So, to make a long story short, and I'm not sure I can just limit myself to 5, but here goes. THese are all albums I never tired of listening to:

Black Sabbath's debut album
Captain Beyond's debut album
Space Ritual by Hawkwind
Look at Yourself by Uriah Heep
Looking In by Savoy Brown Blues Band
Twice Removed From Yesterday by Robin Trower
Santana III
Killer by Alice Cooper
Crash Landing by Jimi Hendrix
Aqualung by Jethro Tull
Ted Nugent's solo debut album
Journey's debut album
Brain Salad Surgery by ELP
DSOTM by Pink Floyd
Romantic Warrior by Return to Forever
A Funky Thide of Sings by Billy Cobham
Energized by Foghat

and I think I'll stop there.

  1. Jessica
  2. ......?

...Okay, I'm sure this won't fit in with you guys and your vintage rock and roll tastes, but here goes..

A Boy Named Goo - Goo Goo Dolls
Teaser and the Firecat - Cat Stevens
Elephant (soon to be Icky Thump, I'm sure--if it'd EVER get here from Amazon! Grr!) - The White Stripes
Sugar Ray - Sugar Ray
The Unforgettable Fire - U2
Guero - Beck
last but not least, an album that goes back to childhood: The Promises Promises Broadway Cast album.

(Come on now, III, did you really think anyone could narrow it down to five?;))
