Is this unusual?

Sounds rare to me, but here's the thread in Background & Bewares on the publisher.

I'm an LSB author, and it strikes me as odd. All my interaction with them has been through email. And I don't believe they publish reprints, which they'd likely consider a story that was available free on a website. They are always looking for good writers, though, so it's not entirely beyond the realm of the possible.

You (or your friend) might check out the LSB community boards (liquidsilverbooks.com/forums), where I think they list the acquisition editors, of which there are only one or two, I believe.

Or PM me the name of the editor, and I can let you know if it's someone I know is affiliated with LSB.

Acutally, I just talked to one of LSB's newest authors, and they'd issued him and 'invitation' to submit, so it's not all that unusual, but I'll check with the editor and get back to you.

Thanks Lila for bringing this to my attention.

I have invited people personally to submit a manuscript. We do have two other editors that might have as well, but unless I have more information I can't say if your friends situation is legit. Feel free to email me or PM me and I will be more than happy to confirm with you if that situation is true.
