I need help categorizing my current project. It's a story about old Hollywood. It tells the story of this guy's life. It involves romance, but also ill involves other things too. I'm not quite sure how to put it only in one genre.

The category "mainstream fiction" is available for works that don't fit other genres.

If the guy was a real guy, it's biography.

He's not a real character, but it's like a fiction biography.

I think I'd consider it mainstream, not genre.

There are many genres under the heading "mainstream."

Not knowing exactly what MAIN thread of the story is about, it's hard to pin down the "genre." It's mainstream but is it satire? Mystery? There might be many threads in the story, but pick the main one and see how it fits. Many such Hollywood stories (e.g. "The Players" or "Get Shorty") are considered satire..

I'm not sure if I'd call it full satire, b/c it'll consist of some seriousness in it as well.

A satire can be serious.
