Hi there
I am a South African currently living in the UK and have been querying UK agents regarding my mystery novel set in South Africa. I specifically looked at two agents that already handle South African clients as they would obviously have experience with this. Both said that they could not consider representing me as it would be a conflict of interest.
Thing is - if a US agent takes on a US client, they don't see it as a conflict of interest to take on another US client - otherwise client lists would be awfully small!
Is this a valid reason for rejection, or is it just that my writing sux?
