Need some guidance/advice

Lately, I've been thinking about submitting the first three chapters of my book to a publisher (they accept unsolicited manuscript, but they take a few months to look at it. They also don't accept simultaneous submissions, which is fine by me, since I'm really busy with school right now anyway).

Anyway, I'm still revising my novel, but I was wondering, is it okay to send the first three chapters (revised and fixed as much as possible, of course) and then continue working on my novel revision in the meantime (so that if they are interested, then I can send the rest of the novel in, and if not, I can submit the complete manuscript to another publisher instead).

I don't recommend that you send any queries to publishers or agents until your novel is completed. Period.

What if they read the 3 chapters, like it, and say "send us the whole book"?

You've just lost your chance at being evaluated. Blown it.

So finish the book first.

I completely agree.

1. Write the entire book.
2. Revise and edit and polish.
3. Send it off into the world.
4. Write another book.
5. Repeat steps 1-4 until someone (agent/publisher/editor) nibbles and you land a good contract.

A few chapters shows you can sit down for a few hours, days or weeks.
A few novels shows you're more than a one-off; you're a Writer.
