I spotted what seems to be a good book called, Self-editing for the Fiction Writer in the bookstore. Can any of you recommend a book or even a site that can help me learn how to rip apart my manuscript when the time comes?:evil

A couple of my faves:

Stein On Writing (http://www.amazon.ca/exec/obidos/ASIN/0312254210/qid=1106687562/ref=sr_8_xs_ap_i1_xgl/701-6933233-8455503)

and the one you might be thinking of:

Self-Editing for Fiction Writers (http://www.amazon.ca/exec/obidos/ASIN/0060545690/qid=1106687731/sr=1-1/ref=sr_1_3_1/701-6933233-8455503)

Those two are like writer's Bibles.

Those two are very, very good. I also like "The Elements of Editing," by Arthur Plotnik, and love "The Elephants of Style" and "Lapsing Into A Comma" both by Bill Walsh.

Currently I am reading BECOMING YOUR OWN CRITIQUE PARTNER (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/1591052386/qid=1107637119/sr=8-1/ref=sr_8_xs_ap_i1_xgl14/104-7257491-8114365?v=glance&s=books&n=507846) by Jane Toombs and Janet Lane Walters and I am very surprised that this book has no reviews on Amazon as I think it is an absolute gem. Those two ladies did a wonderful job.

Another one that I liked was How to Fix Fiction (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/0761800557/qid=1107637401/sr=1-3/ref=sr_1_3/104-7257491-8114365?v=glance&s=books) by Porosky.
