Two people sent me private messages, but I never noticed the message info and therefore accidentally ignored the messages.

Sorry -- the people were asking for advice, one on guns in particular. I wasn't trying to be rude and ignore the messages. I just didn't see them pending.

Thanks for the offer, katdad. And you know, this could be interesting - to post what we know the most.

My expertise would be in photography - not the business or studio work, but landscapes and wildlife and all. So if you have a character snapping pictures and want to make sure he's using the right lens, or drops the right filter to make him climb down over a cliff for it, you can e-mail me as well.

I also know digital stuff, but I wouldn't include that in any novel - it'd bore your readers silly.

For technical questions, your best bet would be photo.net, and for camera recommendations, steves-digicams.com is superb.
