I hope this is the appropriate place for this request, apologies in advance if there is a better forum!

Aphrodite Unlaced, Inc. needs (non-paying position but with certain perks) editors for their expanding Erotic Romance catalog.

These works would be definite erotica and we need people who can embrace the vocabulary and graphic descriptions and dialogue that are involved.

If anyone is interested, and has a comfort level with erotic works, please send an email to [email protected] with "Editor Openings" in the subject line for further details and communication.

Thank-you!

I'm not sure I want to work for free without having a more solid idea what the nature of the perks might be. If it's just that I get to read (and edit) erotica, that's not going to be enough, even though I'm qualified and might find it very pleasant work.

Can you be more specific?

I think the point is that it being non-specific means no email from a lot of people. I mean why should the matter be confidential?

I am surprised that several epublishers do seem to manage to secure editors without monetary pay.

Crazy people! Working for no pay is crazy!

I work, I wanna get paid. Cause the funny thing is, my electric company wants to get paid, my grocery store wants to get paid, my car repair shop and insurance company want to get paid...

Susan G. - will work for pay. :)

Maybe moving editing (proofreading surely?) to the royalty system at some epresses was the beginning of the slippery slope. My guess is that you get paid in ebooks?

My utility company does not accept erotica ebooks as payment. Go figure, huh?

Frankly, the secrecy about what perks you get when doing a professional-quality editing job, for which a paycheck is the norm, is a huge red flag. If it were a fair deal, there'd be no reason to keep it hush-hush.

Maryn, willing to get screwed literally but not figuratively

To put it another way, less tongue-in-cheek, as it were:

Why would a professional quality editor work for free, when they can spend their time earning a living? In fact, if they are a professional then they are probably already obligated to spending their time for their employer. If they aren't professional quality, why would you want them to edit your stuff?

Hey, I get that reference! Ever year we used to hole up, my folks and siblings and me, in a snowy locale with no tv and only an old record player, reading, laughing, listening to music while drinking hot choccy (and, in later years, kirsch). That was one we listened to, and sang along with, for a decade. Thanks for the memory. :)

I haven't received a reply from them to find out what the special perks are.
