There lay I, a broken wheel and a spoke, beside the road of trespassers.

The story goes not forth, without time to reflect, while the words remain etched within the confines of my imaginary word-smith friend. But I found an escape, only recently, from the torture that had kept the remaining story from unfolding.

Yes! I am about to embark on the conclusion of this story that I began a fortnight and forty ago. Soon, my work on this tale will finish and nobody can stop me now.

So we all have stories to complete, while fugitives from the demons of our own making, and exorcise excuses to finish them. I think so. But the broken wheel that keeps us from finishing the race is a crutch, I believe. I will not allow the trespassers on my goal to finish this story and keep me from telling what I know.

---

Did you ever write a short story to explain why you haven't finished a story? Hmmm...I think I've taken procrastination to the next level.

:e2cheer: You can do it. It's just a little bit more.

Thus says the person who's never finished anything she's written to date. :tongue Wonder why we're so bad at taking our own advice.

You will, someday. I think we all have uncompleted works and make excuses why we don't finish them.

Excuses? Got plenty of them cluttering up the basement. (That's where I'd put them if I have a basement to begin with.) It's a shame that I can't sell them off. :tongue

But, I have a good feeling about my current WIP. Maybe I'll be able to finish this one.

Good for you! May the force be with you, too!

I've set aside my WIP to write prose-etry to my muse tightly hidden within which is now wanting to take a few peeks out.

Sing a long! You all know the tune...

"You just put one word in front of the o-ther. And soon you are writing cross the flo-o-or. Just put one word in front of the o-ther. And soon you'll be writing out the door!" wait that went... weird, somehow. nevermind.

But the truth is still there. One word at a time. One thought at a time.

You'll get there.

Oh just slap The End on it and go have a beer!

:D
I'll do just that in another 40k words or so. I have the chapter open and going to add a paragraph today if it kills me or my characters. I like killing characters. I'm a happy horror writer. :D

Behind you!
Generally, when I abandon something I've been writing a while, some part of me realizes that it's fatally flawed, and no amount of rethinking, rewriting, or reworking is going to rescue a concept that simply isn't good enough to compete.

Although I did stall on one through sheer indecision on which of many possible directions I should travel. But that's the exception. Usually the stuff I quit on deserves it, even when it's reasonably well written.

Maryn, sucktacular
