Hi Newmod - Another case in recent history was Karen Quinlan. I'd think if you did a Google search you ought to get quite a few leads to cases and books on the subject.

My only experiences with anything like this have been two cases of stoke victims and in both cases death came in a matter of days. In the more recent case the doctors said that the only portion of the brain still functioning was the brain stem. Puma
