I know it always seems a little silly to put a post about a writer who passed away.

Still, I spent about three years completely addicted to this man's writing, and still pick up old copies of his books and hear the writing voice that emerged in my head in blips and blorps.

I am saddened to see he is gone.

My favorite was "The First Two Lives of Lukas Kasha", which may be the book that initially took me off the path of reader and onto the path of writer.

Sorry to see you go, Mr. Alexander.

I LOVED Taran. How many pig-keeper heros can you name? Yeah, that's what I thought. He was an original.

Oh, that's so sad. I hadn't heard about this yet. I love the Prydain Chronicles, especially The Black Cauldron. He knew how to write some of the funniest and also the most moving scenes in any books I've ever read. He'll be greatly missed.

I am really more upset than I should be. I've been out of the loop and didn't notice this till today, which is part of why -- I feel like I failed one of my heroes or something.

Lloyd Alexander was 83 years old, and that's not a bad age to go. He was writing till the end, and he lived two weeks longer than his wife. All of which means I'm not really sad for him, but for myself.

It's not silly to post about them, badducky. If we don't notice the passing of other writers, who will?

Thanks for sharing. Way back when, he was one of my favorites. Then, was a favorite of each of my kids. I'll have to go back to the NYT to see if they mentioned his passing.

(Guess I should be glad my "keeper pile" didn't have any books I didn't want them to read.)
