A very enterprising couple of sparrows have set up their own Bed and Breakfast in our back yard...

They've been working so hard, it's now half full of sticks, twigs, and grass. You can't see it in this pic, but there's a loooong curly piece of dried vegetation that they've struggled with for days! When other sparrows come around, they're summarily escorted from the premises. They like to sit on top, side by side, and survey their domain, too.
I get that same feeling on those rare occasions when I go grocery shopping and actually buy more food than pet supplies - I sit back and look at that full fridge and sigh happily.

Nice bed & breakfast! Birds seem to like convenience foods these days. Next, they will want a family-sized bird bath installed.

They've got three in the back yard with them and two in the front.
I tried to tiptoe out there today and peek in, but it's too high for me to see in without a step stool and I don't want to disturb them... gonna have to disturb them, though, to refill that tube feeder soon! Maybe I'll just refill the other 11 and let them have this one...

It's a cage that goes over the top of the feeder once it's filled. The feeder is bolted to a pie-pan shaped bottom - keeps the bigger, nastier, greedier Starlings and Grackles from getting all the food.
All they need are a couple of kegs and they're ready to throw one heck of a Superbowl party.

I think Ol' Boy even has one of those little round ones on a rod that extends - so he can see deep in the bowels of a sick copier without having to take it apart first!
