After mercilessly editing my query letter (and thank you AW for helping me with it), an agent has asked to see the full manuscript. Yay! But what do I do while he's reading it? Do I continue to query other agents? What if they ask for partials or fulls, too? After all the hard work, I don't want to screw this up now! ::bites nails::

Please forgive me if this isn't the right spot for this, or if it's been answered elsewhere. I'm new here, and the forums often remind me of those cornfield mazes. :)

I just sent my first query out today! EEK! :tongue
Congrats on a non-rejection! LOL :D
I would go ahead and send out more queries. The more fish that are in the pond, the more you can choose which one you like best. :)

If he hasn't asked for an exclusive, keep querying.

Best wishes to you!

P.S. If, in the end, you get lots of requests for partials and fulls but then get rejections on those, consider that your query is fine but it's time to take another look at the book.

Keep on querying! What you want is several agents who want you, then *you* can choose the best one suited for your work (notice I didn't say for *you* - it's your work they are representing)
Good going - now keep going!

Keep querying!

Querying in big chunks is the best way to go about it, in my opinion.

Compile a list of, say, 35 agents. Query all of them. Wait two months. See how many rejections you get, and query that number. If, for instance, you get 10 rejections of the original 35, then query 10 more agents two months after your initial send-off date.

That sounds complicated, but it worked for me. :)

Keep querying. But if you get another request for the full manuscript, let them both know as a courtesy.

Eek! That sounded terribly arrogant of me. I apologize for that.
Aw, you didn't sound arrogant at all. You are completely right. Of course, when I read your comment the first thing I thought was, "Yeah, except my book ROCKS." Heh, so maybe we can start an arrogance club. ::tickles you a little bit::
