Charities should be fine. I'm assuming said charities are not things like the Anti-Walloon league, or a hate group of some sort. Try to remember that bandwidth is an issue for some members who use modems, so use text vs. images if you can.

It's a nice idea, actually--sometimes it's hard to know which charities are legit, so it's good to have folk suggest one they're familiar with.

People who want to avoid seeing big images can use the Firefox browser, with the Adblock add-on, which allows users to block individual images from websites. This is useful on sites that allow users to have images in sigs. Of course in vB, there's a feature to block all sigs, check your User CP.
