Looking for old book title

Hi, I don't usually post in Children's but I'm hoping someone can help me find/remember the title of a children's book from back about 1950. The book was an Easter story. I'm pretty sure the main character was a rabbit. But what was fascinating about the book was that there were the old fashioned, hollow, decorated Easter eggs with scenes inside them. I almost think the story moved into the fairyland inside the egg. Does this ring a bell with anyone? I'd love to find a copy of that book again. Thanks for your help. Puma
