...beta readers?

I'm taking my first faltering steps with writing and whilst it's nice to hand over what I've done to my girl friend, or mum, I'm not entirely sure I'll get the objective feedback I'm after.

I suppose I could join a writers club, but frankly, I'm not sure I have the confidence to get the feedback I need face to face. I'd rather preserve a little distance and anonymity.

What I'm after is some place I can upload what I've written and have it read by other writers and commented upon.

thanks...this is my first post so if I've done/said something dumb, go easy on me.

There is a "share your work" forum here. You can post your work and get comments from others.

I assume since you're a newbie, you just haven't found the forum yet. Just look for Share Your Work under the main forums listing, then use the password "vista" to get into the forum.

Welcome Andy.

Ah yes, the eternal "It's very good dear" problem of asking someone else to read it. And always the eternal question: Are they just saying that to be nice to you?

I think there are professional readers out there. Where are you from? In Britain we have The Writers' and Artists' Yearbook which has people like that in.

You could try Books and Writers Community here

But they have a section here at AW also.
