I'm going to be attending the following conferences/conventions this year. Will anyone from AW be at any of them?

Romantic Times BOOKlovers convention, Houston, TX, 4/24-27
Michigan International Women's Show, Novi, MI, 5/3-6
San Antonio Romance Authors' Merritt Conference, San Antonio, TX, 5/19
RWA National Conference, Dallas, TX, 7/11-15
FenCon SF/Fantasy Convention, Fort Worth, TX, 9/22-23

How about the rest of you? Any conference plans for the summer?

I wish! I would especially love to go to the national RWA conference since I finally was able to join RWA, but I just can't afford the money/time off work right now. Ah well, I'll live vicariously through everyone else's experiences and hope next year I can make it work. I hope you have a lot of fun!

I'll be at the Pennwriter's conference in Pittsburgh, and I am going to RWA in Dallas.

:)

Next year RT is going to be in Pittsburgh, and I'll be going to that. It will be the first RT convention for me.

Wow, I remember this time last year. I had racked up about fifty rejections and was starting to be sure things would never work out for me and wished I had the time and money to go to some of these, but enjoyed living vicariously through the rest of you.

:e2cry: Damn, you're making me all nostalgic.

BayCon for me, and maybe Westercon as it's local to me this year. At the moment I'm not doing anything that isn't within commuting distance of myself or a friend I can crash with.

I'm going to the New England Chapter (RWA) conference this weekend (small, fun, in Natick, MA, outside Boston, w/ Lisa Gardner as the keynote speaker, and an open-to-public booksigning by a bunch of writers, with a percent going to charity, on Saturday afternoon, if anyone's in the area -- google New England Chapter for more info), but that's all for this year.

JD, not much of a traveler, especially compared to friends who are going to Worldcon in Japan!

Hmmmm...I didn't know about the one in Novi. It's only about a 2 1/2 hour drive...I might have to look into that, though my finances aren't the best.

I wish I could afford to. especially since they are in Texas which is where I am to begin with. Unfortunatley money constraints this year are keeping me from going.

Oh darn.

What I'd really like to go to is a Mystery Writers Conference.

I think I just missed one in February in San Francisco, and I live in Canada on the coast just north of there. Maybe next year I can get to that one!

I wonder if there's another in the next 6 months for Mystery Writers in California (the Pacific Coast).

Anyone know? Maybe I should go to Mystery novel writing and ask this question. I've written one novel that involves solving a murder mystery, and would to develop more along that line.

Hmmm. Ouch ouch, my brain is thinking.:Headbang:

:)

Oh, I forgot - I'm speaking at the NJRW conference in October. I am REALLY stoked about that one because it's held in my old college stomping grounds. I haven't been back to that area of NJ for years, so I'm looking forward to seeing how much the old place has changed.

I'll be at RT!

It's the only one I'm going to as I have to take a whole week of vacation and spend a truly horrific amount of money to go.

I will also be signing at the Saturday mass author signing and am already so nervous I could vomit. As far as I'm concerned it is laughable that I'll be there, but there you go!

I'm flying in from the UK for the Pennwriters' conference. I just wish we had meetings of this calibre here in the UK.

Vicky, you are?? WOW! That's cool! I'll bet you'll be the person who comes the furthest. You should get a prize for that. :)

I look forward to meeting you there!

Susan, I'm down for your workshop, so I shall loook forward to meeting you (I hope - I know you'll be busy).

And Sheryl, of course it goes without saying that I'd love to meet you too. I'm booked into the conference hotel from the 15th, assuming Continental Airlines get me there without any delays! A writer friend is hopefully joining me for the conference - she lives in Pittsburgh and has recently joined Pennwriters.

So coffee and buns all round....or even something stronger.
I'll be registered under my own name of Jeanette Woodall (Victoria Howard is my middle and maiden name which I use for writing).

Hope to see you soon.

I was thinking maybe the NJRW conference in October ...
Depends on whether I can scrape the cash together.

But definitely RWA in 2008 in S.F.

Are there any conferences in the Kansas City area anytime soon? I went to an amazing conference in Kentucky last month thru Green River Writers, but I have no desire to fly again any time soon. What forum would I post a great historical genre research tool?

I'm going to RWA in July and then the GA RWA in September. Already have hotels booked and registered for RWA. Just got to register for GA.

So jealous! When there's one in Seattle, I plan to go. Maybe next year I can swing something in San Francisco since the dh has family in the Bay area.
