Should one be weary of the P.O. Box address? I think JABerwocky has one, and I've seen them for others as well. Not loving the P.O. Box myself, makes me think they're doing business from a phone booth.

Agent PO Boxes? Not a big deal if like Siddow below says--they have verifiable sales and are reputable. :D

You're talking about agent PO Boxes, right? I wouldn't be concerned as long as the agent is reputable and has a record of sales. A lot of agents work from home, and given the reputation of some writers response to rejection, if I were a home-office agent, I wouldn't have my actual address out there, either.

Keep in mind that sometime a person or place of business does not alway have a choice in getting a P.O. Box.

The town I live in is so small that they do not deliver to homes and business within the boundaries of the town. Each address is issued a P.O. Box to receive their mail.

Granted that most publishing companies and the like are not in this situation, but it could happen.

I imagine that it is a matter of safety and security. *Imagines the Great Genius Writer beating down the doors of agent/publisher and demanding acceptance of said genius writer's work.*

FWIW, JABberwocky is wonderful and John Zakour will; probably chime in in a minute to second that. He's his agent.:)

Trust me, you can't judge just by the address.

Joshua (and Steve) are way legit. I think he has the PO Box to stop people from showing up at his office. Just a guess on my part but that's what I'd do if I was an agent. After all nobody wants us writers coming to their door. :)
